This is most likely a permissions issue related to newer versions of Windows. VectorCUT® 1.0 was developed for Windows XP, and the security architecture in Windows 7, 8 and 10 has changed creating this error message. To fix this, you will need to uninstall and reinstall VectorCUT®.
Uninstall and Reinstall VectorCUT®.
To uninstall VectorCUT® 1.0 and VectorCUT® 2.0
1. Please go to the Windows Control Panel/Programs and Features and uninstall VectorCUT® 1.0 or VectorCUT® 2.0.
2. Next, verify that VectorCUT® 1.0 has been fully removed from the Windows directory by opening Windows Explorer and browse to C:/Program Files(x86)/VectorX and verify there is no folder named VectorX Software.
3. While in the directory, browse to the Windows/Downloads folder and delete the VectorCut2Setup folder as well.
4. Next, if using VectorCUT® 2.0. To fully remove VectorCUT® 2.0, select the Windows Start button and enter %appdata% in the search window. This will find the Roaming folder. Select Roaming and find the GroupeStahl folder. Right click on the folder and select DELETE. If the GroupeStahl folder is not located in the Roaming folder, it means VectorCUT is fully removed.
5. VectorCUT® should now be completely removed from your system. You are now ready to reinstall VectorCUT® 1.0 or VectorCUT® 2.0 depending on which version of Windows you are running.
To install VectorCUT® 1.0 and VectorCUT® 2.0
1. Please go to the CadworxLIVE® homepage and select SUPPORT/Downloads link. This opens the Downloads page where you will find the links to download VectorCUT® 1.0 (Windows XP and Vista) and VectorCUT® 2.0 (Windows 7-10)
2. Select the appropriate version of VectorCUT® for your version of Windows and download.
3. After installation, open VectorCUT® by selecting the desktop icon and select your cutter from the Cutter pulldown list. If your cutter is not listed, select the Universal HPGL as your cutter.
4. Next, select the Properties button. Select the appropriate connection for how you are connected to the cutter. Majority of connections are by USB cable which is the Printer Port selection. Then in the Name pulldown list, select your cutter and select OK.
5. The computer should now communicate with the cutter. (Note: if your cutter is not listed in the pulldown list, your cutters driver may not be installed. Make sure you have them installed before continuing!)
6. Once installed, your cutter should be available in the pulldown list. At this time you will want to make a small test cut file to verify the connection.
